We will begin the proceedings at Timothy Hackworth’s House at 5p.m. and then gently wind our way down to the Collection at Locomotion for a service at 6p.m

Welcome to our Website

Welcome to the Bishop Auckland Methodist Circuit. There are 10 churches in the Circuit serving the town of Bishop Auckland and its many satellite villages.

The largest Methodist church in the town of Bishop Auckland is opposite the hospital on Cockton Hill Road. It is open on a Monday to Friday between 10a.m. and 12noon. Why not pop in to make yourself known, have a chat or a cuppa and why not say a prayer in the sanctuary.

The Local Ecumenical Partnership at Woodhouse Close plays an important part in the local community and serves that community in a very real and tangible way throughout the week with various activities. Visit their website to see what is going on.

The other Local Ecumenical Partnership is at Hamsterley where the three churches (Methodist, Baptist and Church of England) work closely together to seek to serve the village community. Currently there is a major refurbishment programme going on at the Methodist Chapel costing around £90,000 to create and develop a Churches Together Centre at the heart of Hamsterley. Visit their website for further details.

The other chapels in the Circuit are in mainly former mining villages which are very different as the mines and heavy industry have now gone. Each of the chapels plays its part in village life especially around the festivals of Harvest, Christmas and Easter.

In recent years a new chapel has been built at Witton Park. There you find a lively congregation using hymns and songs projected on a screen who are open to creative forms of worship, such as café style, who regularly have worship leaders leading worship. More could be said about the other chapels in the Circuit. If you wish, why not click on one of them, to find out more about the history and times of worship. You are welcome to come and join us.
